Agamemnon

The Greek army is heading back home after defeating the city of Troy. The Greek region around the Aegean Sea is ruled by King Agamemnon who is at the height of his authority. However the great kings situation is not perfect. As soon as Agamemnon returns home his wife Queen Clytemnestra is introduced to his new concubine Cassandra and marital disputes almost immediately break out. Agamemnon and Cassandra are the targets of a plot by Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus to assassinate them. Never again will the Greek world be the same. The first of Aeschylus three plays that make up the Oresteia trilogy is Agamemnon. The trilogy is completed by Eumenides and The Libation Bearers.
