Agarwood

About The Book

In-vitro regeneration and re-introduction into the natural or favorable habitat is one of the strategies for conservation of economically important highly valued and rare species of plants. Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis Lam.) is one of such species. It is an endangered and red listed tree species distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical climate of north east India. The species has high commercial value due to its precious agaroil and noteworthy medicinal properties. The highly priced agar products and present distribution status of this species in north east India had encouraged me to select this topic of research. This book includes standardized protocols of in-vitro regeneration of A. malaccensis along with enhanced survival percentage and vigour in field conditions with the assistance of endo-mycorrhizal symbiosis.
