Different areas of ageing are examined from a person-centred perspective: topics that repeatedly arise in psychotherapeutic work with older people such as dying and death dementia and the narration of one's own history but also person-centred concepts such as 'actualisation tendency' person and 'the self' in relation to ageing. The importance of person-centred attitudes in (not only psychotherapeutic) work with older people is highlighted. In terms of the political aspect of the person-centred approach this publication aims to highlight the crucial role played by environmental conditions in healthy development in old age how important the social position of older people is for their personal approach to ageing and how important it is to adopt an attitude that focuses on resources rather than deficits.
