AGEING AND ORAL HEALTH

Some very good books on geriatric dentistry were robust reviews of the literature full of evidence-based information and conclusions. Far fewer resources are available on geriatric oral care and the holistic aspects of treating and caring for elders. There is no doubt that techniques methodology and materials may change over time but the underlying tenet of the importance of caring for the ageing population will always remain the same. In this book we aim to address the implications for the oral cavity racial and ethnic disparities in oral status and ageing death and dying and biological physiological and psychological aspects of ageing. Additionally this work informs the reader about oral health care in long-term care facilities including policies and practice; dental professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team and holistic quality of life.
