The study explores the socio-economic psychological and emotional conditions of elderly individuals who have moved into institutional care. The research seeks to understand the reasons that compel senior citizens to seek shelter in old-age homes the challenges they face and the overall impact of such environments on their well-being.The study was conducted among 100 residents of selected old-age homes in Karaikal District using a descriptive-diagnostic research design. Data were collected through a structured interview schedule enabling both qualitative and quantitative analysis.The study concludes that old-age homes play a vital role in providing shelter safety and companionship to neglected elders. Nevertheless family involvement and societal support remain indispensable for ensuring holistic well-being. The research recommends strengthening family values improving health and mental care services and promoting active aging policies to enable senior citizens to live with dignity security and self-respect.
