About The Book

The state of the art technologies are now available for characterization of root for physical attributes. However state of the art technology also requires consummately excavated roots for precise characterization. Thus despite technological advancements the problems of tedious and deterrent techniques for excavating of roots from soil enormous resources time and labour still hamstrung root studies for yield enhancement. The predicament is very dicey root characters are important for realizing higher yield and for enhancement of efficiency of inputs but their studies is encumbering calling for designing some alternate method for their indirect phenotypic assessment. Molecular markers can fill in this otherwise audacious space. Molecular markers are not only precise but once ascertained they can be extensively utilized to screen large numbers of plants in segregating generations for impacting genetic ameliorations for root attributes. Therefore the present study entitled “Molecular Characterization of Root Attribute in Wheat [Triticum aestivum (L.)]” has been undertaken with following objectives:1. Phenotyping of wheat genotypes for root length root volume and root diameter2. Identify SSR molecular markers for root length root volume and root diameter
