Ahh...A Story of Affirming Healing and Hope

This was the summer her 10 young black children would learn to navigate a 1960's America together. Lily went to the hospital for the last time late one July night in the summer of 1962. She had prepared her oldest children for this day. We were fifteen thirteen twelve and ten years old. We now were in charge of the five under us. We were still children ourselves and life as we knew it was forever changed.
