Al-Hakimiyya: The divine manifestation of what is political

If you tell any Muslim that Al-Hakimiyya (sovereignty) belongs to God alone you will not find any objection as all Muslims believe in that; however the story does not end here. For political purposes extremist Islamic groups have declared all existing Islamic and non-Islamic governments and societies to be infidels claiming that they do not apply God's sovereignty on earth. What is meant by God's sovereignty here is political Hakimiyya.The first to put forward the concept of Al-Hakymiaa is the Khawarij because of their objection to the arbitration incident between Imam Ali bin Abi Talib and Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan and then it was recently represented by Abu Al-Ala Al-Mawdudi and translated into Arabic by Sayyid Qutb. Violence emerged from radical Islamic movements that considered their opponents to be infidels and thus wanted to achieve Al-Hakimiyya for God alone through jihad as they claim.
