This compilation reviews the diversity types distribution chemical structures methods of separation methods of extraction and clinical significance of alkaloids which are major secondary metabolites produced by plants. The review is a comprehensive account of around 100 references selected and searched to understand the significance of alkaloids in health care system as well as its role in the plants producing them.
