<p>The journey from Bristol to the tiny hamlet of</p><p>Bromley near Stanton Drew took just over half</p><p>an hour in the removal van. However on their</p><p>arrival five year old Christine and her family</p><p>were plunged head first into a strange white</p><p>world in which snow had 'pitched'.</p><p>Happiness was soon to be threatened by ill</p><p>health and poverty. However the family pulled</p><p>through together helped by the kindness of</p><p>their new friends and neighbours.</p><p>Christine's account of a West Country</p><p>childhood in the 1960s and 1970s brims over</p><p>with affectionate anecdotes of these people</p><p>set against the beautiful backdrop of village</p><p>life in the Chew Valley.</p>
