Alphonsine a happily married woman living a secure and affluent life in the sophisticated city of Montreal has her life change dramatically when her husbands business suffers a severe blow. Her husbands decision to move his familly to the American frontier results in consequences outside of his plan of regaining prosperity in a new country.
