Amar Jibon Kotha is a delightful life story of a nonagenarian Dr Malay Kumar Sengupta a technocrat by profession written in lucid Bengali. A glance at the book’s 168 pages with memories of the photographs takes us through his life’s journey. From his childhood days in his parental home in Patna (Bihar) in the 1930s onwards the bonding with the members of a large family and friends to the success in his professional career later. A specialist in Applied Optics he retired as the M.D. of Bharat Ophthalmic Glass Ltd. Durgapur in 1988. Amar Jibon Kotha contains information about the situation in the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the National laboratories and offers nuggets on the erstwhile USSR particularly Izume where he stayed for about a year. In this area a vicious war is raging now. Like all biographies Amar Jibon Kotha reflects the image of a society at the time of a 90-year-old.
