The action takes place in a small village in northwestern Greece-AVDELA moves to Thessaloniki and later to Bucharest Romania where Thiana married and established. The book encompasses the 1920s to the 1970s including events associated with World War 2 and the rise of the Iron Curtain that separated eastern Europe from the rest of the world.
