When The Second World War Ii Started Henryk Szostak And His Family Were Ruthlessly Uprooted From Poland And Deported To A Work Camp In Siberia. For Two Years They Endured Extreme Hardships And Starvation. After 1942 Amnesty They Became Refugees And Moved From Uzbekistan Iran To Tanzania Where They Finally Lived In Freedom. In Africa Henryk First Learned Of United States And Yearned To Someday Live There. In 1948 The Family Moved To England Were Educated And Ten Years Later Immigrated To America. In 1960 Henryk Was Drafted Into The Us Army. He Spent Summers In Greenland Helping Scientists With Their Experiments. Two Years Later He Married Vivian And Lived In New York City. In 1964 They Moved To Chicago And Raised Three Children. As An Engineer He Travelled To Garment Plants Throughout The United States. After A Divorce In Mid 1970'S He Married A Nurse Donna Who Had Three Sons. They Took All Six To Hawaii For A Wedding At The Fern Grotto In Kauai. As A Project Engineer With Abbott Labs He Travelled Worldwide. Avid Motor Home Enthusiasts They Took Trips From Their Home Base In Chicago Visiting Their Children At Colleges And Individual Trips To All States. After Henryk Retired In 1996 Their Adventurous Spirit Took Them To All Seven Continents In The World And Over One Hundred Countries. Eventually They Settled In Southern California Where Donna Worked As A Professor At California State College Then As A Dean At Saddleback College In Orange County.
