An Anthology of Marginalized Voices

About the Book: Recognizing the importance of English in today’s world I’ve always admired multilingual individuals. During a visit to a government school where English was taught as a third language I was struck by the students’ fluency. However writing remained a daunting and unenjoyable task for many of them. Determined to change that I began teaching English to 9th-grade SIFF scholars—brilliant students from marginalized communities. My goal was to make writing fun and engaging through creative exercises like penning love letters to fictional characters and crafting imaginative stories. I’m immensely proud of each student watching them grow and embrace writing with newfound enthusiasm. Now it’s my honor to present their work in An Anthology of Marginalized Voices. I hope you find their creativity and passion as inspiring as I do. About the Author: In the summer of 2022 an idea took shape. I’m Aanya from Bangalore India and literature has always been my passion. Writing has been my sanctuary—a means of expressing myself through every emotion be it happiness sadness or stress. Growing up in a privileged family I was fortunate to have mentors who nurtured my love for the written word making the process of writing an absolute joy. For me writing is more than just a creative outlet; it’s a way to explore and understand my place in the world.
