Procarbazine is an alkylating drug with different functions that has anti-neoplastic (anti-cancer) properties. Procarbazine is used in the treatment of some types of cancer especially Hodgkin''s disease. It is used to treat Hodgkin''s lymphoma (in the MOOP diet) non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma brain tumors (such as malignant gliomas) some lung tumors multiple myeloma and other types of cancer. Procarbazine is a substance that acts as a cell cycle-specific agent on cell division phases and inhibits the synthesis of DNA RNA and protein. Although the exact mechanism of action is unknown it has several sites of action.
