About The Book

<p>An Autobiographical account of the years 1939 through 1945 at Gardiner Central School. The tensions and concerns of the time covering local area school and family interactions. A stressful time in Australia reflected through the inquiring eyes of a schoolboy.</p><p>A book for local historians about Gardiner Central School and the district of Malvern and Glen Iris </p><p>including the small village of Tooronga where the Rickarby family lived at 6 Creswick street.</p><p>No 6 was well known at the time for the 6 tennis courts behind the house which hosted all kinds of tennis competitions and social events before the war which stopped almost overnight as players enlisted to fight.</p><p>Geoffrey graduated in medicine from Melbourne University (1956).</p><p>He went on to become a child psychiatrist being honoured in 2012 with the OAM for his work with relinquishing mothers. </p>
