<p><em>An Early History of the Mars Hill Church of Christ: With a Collection of Memories by Members of the Congregation </em>stands unique in several ways. Primary author C. Wayne Kilpatrick and former minister Jack P. Wilhelm document the birth of the church due to travel challenges created by picket lines during the Civil War. Kilpatrick weaves the intertwined stories of the Mars Hill Church Mars Hill Academy and the nationwide evangelistic work of T. B. Larimore. Various Mars Hill members contribute their shorter histories of the church and their pleasant memories of special people and events. This brief history is supplemented by photographs from yesteryear. It opens the door to a bygone era and fondly remembers evangelistic Christians who sacrificed much for the kingdom of God. </p>
