An Empirical Analysis of the Commuters��� Mode Transition Behaviors

“What I am is indebted to what I was. What is learned in the cradle is carried to the tomb.” This famous epigram states that current status is determined by past status. Modeling the labor participation of women low income persistence and unemployment persistence over time are good examples of this epigram in the economics field. Likewise it is difficult for us to change the persistence of our behaviors. In consecutive years approximately 20% of workers switch between auto mode and transit mode while 80% continue to use the same mode. This mode change and persistent information are the starting points of the current research.
