An Experimental Investigation to Enhance Cooling System of a Distribution Transformer by Using Thermosyphon

The distribution transformer is an extremely effective static power transformer machine and the core portion in grids of power transmission. Over the process of conversion for electrical power in a transformer different kinds of losses are appearing. Generally these losses are happening at active parts of the transformer which are the windings and core parts and then converted into heat. This heat spread throughout the transformer and then to the air by means of its insulation material like minerals oil. However the heat accumulation with no effective dissipation will produce damage the transformer insulation paper and in their windings. Therefore the rising of temperature should be limited with safety rang for increasing the operational life of the distribution transformer.It is well known that the thermosyphon is a passive heat exchanger an excellent transformer of thermal energy from a heat source to lower heat. The thermosyphon has been used over a wide domain of applications being that characterized as low cost effective reliable energy transmitting and minor weight.
