An Interloper

The story begins with Philip Wayne’s arrival in the village. He is an enigmatic figure with a past shrouded in mystery which immediately piques the interest of the villagers. His presence causes a stir and he is quickly labeled as an interloper. Philip's charm and intelligence win him some friends but his secretive nature and the air of mystery surrounding him also breed suspicion and gossip. As he settles into the village Philip starts to influence the lives of those around him both positively and negatively. Evelyn Carleton is one of the first to be drawn to Philip. Her curiosity about his past and her growing attraction to him create a complex dynamic between them. Despite warnings from her father and friends Evelyn is determined to uncover the truth about Philip and understand the reasons behind his secretive demeanor.
