About The Book

A 2-pole 50 Hz high temperature superconducting hysteresis motor has been numerically simulated for its performance calculation. In this high temperature superconducting hysteresis motor conventional stator is used and the rotor is made up of high temperature superconducting material. YBCO material is used in the rotor of the hysteresis motor. Due to the brittle nature of the YBCO material segmented rotor is constructed using glued circular sectors. The various performance parameters of a high temperature superconducting hysteresis motor are calculated using finite element method. Since huge investments and time are required for the practical experiments for this work numerical simulation are preferred. The B-H loops are obtained at different stator currents. From this B-H loop torque and AC losses are calculated. This torque is linearly proportional to the current which is the common feature of any hysteresis motor. Then these parameters are compared with that of the conventional hysteresis motor. All of these calculations are done using MATLAB based program developed in-house and COMSOL Multiphysics software.
