In this era of increased dental awareness toothache still remains one of the major dental concerns among individuals. Dental pain is the most common symptom that brings the patient to the dentist yet it is the greatest fear that makes most patients reluctant in scheduling dental appointment hence its rightly said “to many patients pain and dentistry is synonymous” . Even today despite the modern treatment strategies employed treating dental pain is a challenge for most endodontist. Therefore managing pain is an art that every dentist should master to gain the confidence of patients and complete the treatment in the most satisfactory manner.Therefore this book present an overview of the various opioid and non- opioid analgesics their mechanism of action role in endodontic pain management adverse effects and recent advances in this area.
