About The Book

Analog forest is a tree-dominated ecosystem that is analogous in structure and function to the original climax and sub-climax community which provides benefits on a long-term sustainable basis. The trees and plants in an analog forest will be similar to those in native ecosystems. Analog forests promote environmental stability via nutrient recycling pollination soil conservation pest control conserve biodiversity and facilitate the production of clean water. Also produce wide range of non-timber forest products which having a better market value. The overall objective of this study was to evaluate the value of analog forests as a tool to conserve biodiversity in an increasingly fragmented landscape as well as to assess its contribution to the development of the country's rural green economy. This work is a part of PhD research done at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) by Prof. Wasantha Liyanage and re-written as a book publication with his son Tharindu Liyanage.
