Analysis of Errors in ENEM Geometry Questions

About The Book

The objective of this research is to analyze and classify the errors made by 12th grade students in solving geometry questions on the National High School Exam (ENEM) at five state schools in the municipality of Maringá. The research was qualitative in nature and was conducted in a single stage with the application of a test consisting of four questions extracted from previous ENEM exams. The results of this research indicate that the main errors made by students in solving geometry questions are difficulties in interpreting the questions translating natural language into mathematical language and applying and solving formulas. This corroborates what has been discussed in mathematics education about the importance of error analysis in mathematics teaching.
