The Brazilian Federal Constitution has as its fundamental principle the dignity of the human person supported by this principle are the rights of personality and the right to freedom of expression. There is a conflict when these rights are violated by press professionals because there is a collision of two fundamental rights. In this sense we seek to identify the main lawsuits against journalists and media companies in the state of Sergipe. In addition we seek to understand how judges resolve disagreements between the fundamental principles of freedom of the press which also includes freedom of expression and the principles of personality rights when one right cannot be excluded in relation to the other. To this end it is necessary to know what situations provoke civil and criminal actions against media outlets and journalists how conflicts are resolved and what financial values are applied by jurists in cases of compensation for damages against human dignity. In comparison with studies conducted on the same topic at the national level in light of the Brazilian legal system and international treaties.
