Analysis of the Uraricoera and Tacutu river basins Roraima

About The Book

The main objective of this research is to carry out geomorphometric and physiographic analyses of the hydrographic basins of the Uraricoera and Tacutu Rivers with the aim of characterising and compartmentalising them. The methodology used was based on analyses of gemorphometric parameters obtained from SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) elevation models to delimit the basins and generate products such as declivity hypsometry shaded relief and the longitudinal profile processed in the Quantum Gis 2.4 and Envi 4.7 programmes. The results obtained were updated and more precise data on the morphometric parameters of the basin such as area perimeter shape index geomorphological characterisation based on the compartmentalisation of the denudational and aggradational systems as well as the delimitation of the upper middle and lower reaches of both basins. Based on some data we consider the Uraricoera hydrographic system to be the main one in the Upper Rio Branco whose drainage covers an area of 49942 km2 with a perimeter corresponding to 1641 km and a length of 498106 km.
