Anastomotic release in colonic surgery

About The Book

The last few decades have seen an improvement in the prognosis of colon cancer due to better screening earlier diagnosis and more effective surgery. The improved outcome of this surgery is a result of the development of minimally invasive surgery and resuscitation facilities. However anastomotic release remains the most feared surgical complication. This complication is responsible for an increase in morbidity and mortality and in the overall cost of management. Prevention certainly requires the identification of the predictive factors of this complication.Through this work we try to describe the pathophysiology of anastomotic release as well as its main risk factors in the literature.
