Anatomical variants of the arteries of the hand

About The Book

The hand is richly vascularized and subject to several anatomical variations. Objectives: to know the normal arterial anatomy and radio-anatomy as well as the arterial anatomical variations of its arches.Material and method: to answer these objectives an angiotomodensitometric complement was carried out on ten angioscanners of the hand in order to explore the arteries with highlighting of the anatomical variations. Results: Exploration of the superficial palmar networks revealed the usual U7-R3 type in 8/10 examinations the U10-R0 type in 1/10 examinations and the U5-R5 type in 1/10 examinations. The classical type of the dorsal arch was seen in 9/10 examinations with the exception of one patient in whom a variant of the normal participation of the interosseous artery in the constitution of the dorsal carpal network was revealed. Conclusion: The perfect knowledge of the arterial anatomy of the hand and its anatomical variations allows to optimize the possible surgical incidents during the interventions such as: the location of the skin flaps and the hand graft.
