<p>He walked the seven hundred miles from the south of Spain to Santiago and beyond to Finisterre in the heat of summer and only a miracle saved him from perishing on the way.</p><p>The journey took two months of his life half a stone off his weight and the willing surrender of his innocence.</p><p>Born in Kent during WWII and later educated in England and Belgium Victor Stephen Maynard spent years in the theatre before working in the Civil Service. Now retired and living in southern France he devotes much of his time to writing novels. </p>
