The aim of the study was to evaluate or quantify the effect of hand position on passive range of SLR. Pooled data indicate that dorsiflexion reduce the range of hip flexion during active SLR by 8 degrees in the sciatic patients which is almost identical to previous researches with subjects of low back ache proposed by Roland and Adams (2000) and also supported by Gajdosik et al ( 1985) .2127During the unilateral active SLR tension develops in a sequential manner. It first develops in the greater sciatic foramen then over the ala of the sacrum next the area where the nerve crosses over the pedicle and finally in the intervertebral foramen. The test causes traction on the sciatic nerve lumbosacral nerve roots and duramater so duramater pain comes from nerve roots and adventitial sheath of the epidural veins of synovial facet joints. With the addition of the ankle dorsi flexion there is increased in a significant excursion of the proximal tibial nerve strain and also. This finding is also supported by BS Boyd et al (2005)
