Anne of Avonlea

Anne is almost grown up at sixteen. Her grey eyes twinkle like evening stars, yet her fiery red hair matches her temper. Since her arrival as a freckle-faced orphan in Green Gables, she has garnered the affection of the people of Avonlea as well as a reputation for getting into scrapes. When Anne starts her new work as a schoolteacher, however, the true test of her character begins. Along with teaching the three Rs, she discovers how complicated life can be as she meddles in another's romance, discovers two new orphans at Green Gables, and questions Gilbert Blythe's peculiar conduct. Anne's escapades strike the heart and the funny bone as she grows into womanhood.
