Anne of Avonlea

<p><strong><em>Anne of Avonlea</em></strong> by L. M. Montgomery is the sequel to <em>Anne of Green Gables</em> and follows Anne Shirley from age 16 to 18. Now a young adult Anne becomes the schoolteacher in her hometown of Avonlea while continuing to live at Green Gables with Marilla. As she adjusts to her new responsibilities Anne also joins the Avonlea Village Improvement Society and becomes involved in community projects often with amusing and touching results.</p><p>The novel introduces new characters like the mischievous twins Davy and Dora whom Marilla adopts and the quirky lovable neighbors Anne interacts with. Throughout the story Anne matures learning about duty friendship and personal growth while still retaining her vivid imagination and idealism.</p><p>It's a warm humorous and nostalgic continuation of Anne's journey toward adulthood.</p><p></p><p></p>
