Tracy Condet Coles is from Indiana and he spent twelve years in the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard. He studied sociology at City College of Chicago and language arts at Temple University; he has also taken biblical correspondence courses and went to the Biblical Studies College in Tallahassee Florida. He is a self-taught musician.
