Gram negative uropathogens were screened for ESBL MBL AmpC beta lactamases production and further antibacterial activity of Clove Neem Black Pepper were tested against uropathogens. Clove (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against Proteus (19 mm) and least against P. aeruginosa (14 mm). Neem (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against A. baumannii (15 mm) and least against P. aeruginosa (12 mm). Black pepper (100 mg/ml) showed best antibacterial activity against A. baumannii (16 mm) and least against E. coli (12 mm). Although all three plant‟s ethanolic-extracts were effective at tested concentrations against all beta lactamase and non beta lactamase-producing uropathogens but clove was found to be more anti-bacterial than black pepper and neem. Therefore present studies concluded that medicinal plants contain bioactive-compounds which have potential anti-bacterial activity against a wide range of bacterial pathogens. Further well-designed in vivo clinical trials are needed for isolation identification and characterization of newer bio molecules that can be formulated into antibacterial drugs.
