Antitumor Efficacy of Gloriosa superba (Nanosynthesis)

In this work I have explored an inventive contribution for the synthesis of AgNPs using Gloriosa superba and their antioxidant and antitumorigenic potential. Rapidly developing field of nanoscience had raised the possibility of using therapeutic NPs in the diagnosis and treatment of human cancers. There is no systematic scientific studies on the antitumorigenic role of silver NPs of Gloriosa superba in Swiss albino mice. This fostered our attempts to evaluate the plant extract against cancer-less side effects. This study revealed the potency of AgNPs of methanolic extract of Gloriosa superba seed tuber and leaves (AgMGsSTL) to bring about apoptotic inducing effect to DLA tumor cells compared to methanolic extract of Gloriosa superba seed tuber and leaves (MGsSTL). Both the in vitro and in vivo biochemical parameters life span and histological studies supported their antioxidant and antitumorigenic properties. The observed antitumorigenic property may be attributed to the bioactive antitumor principles present in the MGsSTL and AgMGsSTL.
