Application of Bacteriophages in Clinical Medicine

Discovered 100 years ago the potential of bacteriophages to combat bacterial infections was quickly realized. Event though phage therapy was mainly abandoned in the West after the advent of antibiotics it has been practiced and developed continuously in Georgia and Poland for decades. Today as we are facing the severe threat of antibiotic resistance many researchers once again look to bacteriophages in hope of finding a possible solution to this ongoing crisis. This book explores the history of phage therapy and investigates its potential to be developed to a feasible sustainable and efficient adjunct to antibiotics.
