Research on educational applications of brain structure and function has documented the benefits of some brain-based learning principles. Four brain-based learning principles were determined to be applicable to the students and courses studied. Teaching strategies based on these four principles were implemented in two college courses. Student performance was measured through multiple assessment methods. Based on the assessment methods utilized students taught using the brain-based learning principles studied demonstrated an improved ability to memorize recall and apply information learned in the two courses.
