The primary objective of present work is to explore the simple fast efficient cost effective environmentally friendly and non-toxic methodology for the preparation of different types of inorganic and organic nanoparticles and to develop an effective carrier that would be suitable for gene delivery in plants and other therapeutic applications. In the present study we have developed different types of nanoparticles (a) Ceramic nanoparticles for gene delivery (i.e. calcium phosphate) and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles to check its potential cytotoxicity for further successful biomedical applications. (b) Metal nanoparticles i.e. gold and silver nanoparticles were prepared via simple and eco friendly method. Scientists currently employing different non-viral vectors such as liposomes polymer nanoparticles etc. as gene delivery agents in mammalian cells and few are reported with plant cells. In plant Agrobacterium mediated method gene gun lipofection and biolistics are the common conventional methods for gene delivery have been reported but they possess several limitations.
