About The Book

Translation studies are the academic discipline related to the study of the theory and practice of translation. Aware of what is at stake in the contemporary debates concerning such terms as ''reality'' ''reason'' ''truth'' and so on this book refers to philosophical discourses for support of its ideas and addresses the major problems and priorities in TS. The study views the translator as the interpretive agent in his unveiling of meaning(s) of the text through his cognitive and intellectual processes. The study explores in detail the authorial intention and is in search for meaning in the categories of source text author translator and translation process. This book is mainly concerned with hermeneutics of translation and the process of transfer. It starts from an analysis of Sadra’s substantial motion and looks at philosophical approaches to translation that have sought out the essence of (mainly literary and religious) translation. It deals with literary translation because literary texts are symbolic multilayered and of hierarchical orders of reality. Therefore the study is an examination of the inter-attraction of translation and philosophy.
