About The Book
Description
Author
This book has been designed to provide an introduction to Applied Mathematics and is intended to be used by undergraduates in Mathematics, Computer applications and Engineering students of all Indian Universities. The present work is a by-product of my long association with teaching Applied Mathematics at various I.T. and Engineering institutes of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. This book contains numerous examples that illustrate the basic as well as high level concepts of the concerned topics. Different concepts have been explained in a very lucid language with the help of various solved examples that would help the students to understand the subject matter without further reference. The solved problems are interspersed throughout the text at places where they naturally arise, making the book ideal for self-study. Contents Elementary concepts 1. Probability-I 2. Probability-II 3. Random Variable and Mathematical Expectations 4. Discrete Probability Distributions 5. Normal Distribution 6. Finite difference 7. Interpolation 8. Solution of Algebraic and Transcendental equations 9. Solution of linear Simultaneous equations 10. Numerical Differentiation and Integration 11. Linear Programming: Formulation 12. Linear Programming: Graphical Method 13. The Simplex Method 14. Transportation Problem 15. Assignment Problem About the Author JP Singh is Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Jagan Institute of Management Studies (Affiliated to GGSIP University), Delhi.
