Students learn not only the parts of art but also develop a deeper understanding of art&rsquo;s power to communicate on multiple levels&mdash;universal cultural and personal.</p><p><strong>Ferdinanda Florence</strong>&nbsp;holds a M.F.A. in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute and a M.A. in art history from the University of Maryland College Park. She is a professor of art history at Solano Community College in Fairfield California where she teaches art appreciation; survey courses in Western art history modern art Asian art and arts of Africa Oceania and the Americas; and a course on marginalized artists in the U.S. and issues related to the perception and display of their work. A professional artist she is represented by the Andrea Schwartz Gallery in San Francisco and Alisa Contemporary Art in New York.</p>
