Arginase as a potential target in the treatment of Alzheimers disease

About The Book

Arginase is the central enzyme of the urea cycle hydrolyzing L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine. Recent studies have identified arginase function in the brain and associated this enzyme with the the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Arginase represents a promising novel therapeutic target. Arginase inhibition may reverse amyloid driven neuronal dysfunction and prevent development of Alzheimer’s disease.
