Articulation between traditional and modern medicine

About The Book

The present model of articulation between traditional and conventional medicine in the Dogon Plateau of Bandiagara in Mali which is primarily theoretical is based on previous experiences of articulation between the two systems of care in West Africa notably those of Professor Thomas A. Lambo in Nigeria in the 1960s the Dakar school directed by Professor Henri Colomb in the 1960s and 1970s and the Malian experience led by Professor Baba Koum. It is based on previous experiences of articulation between the two health care systems in West Africa in particular those of Professor Thomas A. Lambo in Nigeria in the 1960s the Dakar school directed by Professor Henri Colomb in the 1960s and 1970s the Malian experience led by Professor Baba Koumare and Doctor Jean-Pierre Codray since the 1980s in Mali and above all the experience of the Regional Center for Research in Traditional Medicine (CRMT Vth Region) in Bandiagara concerning medicine in general and mental health in particular since 1986 (the date of its creation) to the present. For a better implementation of this articulation the two medicines will be developed to the extent desired. The support of other actors identified at the regional national and international levels as well as financial partners will help strengthen and perpetuate this linkage in order to meet the needs and demands of the population.
