The book traverses through the selected essays of R.K. Narayan from the anthologies entitled A Writer's Nightmare and My Dateless Diary to examine both incidental and volitional reasons for the essayist's languid narration and the essays' discursive nature. The texts under observation show a striking potential to remain realistic and relevant even after more than half a century. This book thus studies the various intersections of anthropology linguistics and sociology wherein Narayan's writing converges to reflect him as an artful observer.
