The Consortium for Longitudinal Studies was formed in 1975 to answer the question of whether early education programs had measurable long-term effects on the performance of children from low-income families. This unique collab­oration of individual researchers who developed and evaluated early education programs in the sixties has now provided convincing and ecologically valid evidence of the effectiveness of these programs.
