ASSESSING DATA JOURNALISM ON POLICING IN NIGERIAN NEWSPAPERS

This book investigates the role of data journalism in policing as practiced by the Nigerian Newspapers. As data journalism gains prominence in the modern media landscape it serves as a powerful tool for uncovering hidden truths and enhancing accountability in governance. This book primarily examines the extent of data journalism practices at these two newspapers evaluates its impact on policing and identifies the challenges faced by journalists in the process. By utilizing the quantitative research methods the study highlights how data-driven reporting contributes to a better understanding of crime and law enforcement while also addressing ethical considerations related to data accuracy and privacy. The findings indicate that data journalism not only enriches reporting on crime-related issues but also empowers the public with crucial information. However challenges such as data verification and the need for specialized training persist. This study underscores the importance of integrating data journalism into everyday reporting as a means to foster transparency and improve public trust in policing within Nigeria.
