He And His Younger Brother Were Cast Aside By Their Mother And Placed In Various Institutions Which Included A Home For Unwed Mothers A Nursery And Finally A South Carolina Orphan Home. In 1939 At The Age Of 18 The Author Enlisted In The U.S. Navy Somewhat Reluctantly And Soon Found Himself Aboard A Navy Vessel In The Alaska-Aleutians Campaign During World War Ii. There Are Interesting Stories About Life Aboard Ship In Icy Weather And Stormy Seas As Well As Love Stories When The Ship Was In Port. Quite Interesting Also Are Stories About The Travels Of His Wife And Children From After The War Until His Retirement From The Navy In 1962.
