كانت هيلين متعطّشة لاكتشاف العالم من حولها. لكنّها أصيبت بمرض في طفولتها، ففقدت السّمع والبصر. ولم تستطع أن تتعلّم كيف تتواصل مع الآخرين بطرق مختلفة إلاّ بعدما دخلت حياتها الأستاذة آن سوليفان.هيلين كيلر، هي أوّل شخص أصمّ-أعمى يحوز شهادة جامعِية، وقد سافرت حول العالم مطالبة بحقوق أصحاب الهمم.Little Helen was eager to learn about the world. After falling ill during childhood she became deaf and blind. When Anne Sullivan a teacher came into her life Helen learned how to communicate in different ways. She became the first deaf-blind person to earn a university degree and toured the world advocating for the rights of disabled people.
