Attrition of Teachers in Private Schools: Problems Causes and Remedies

The economic growth of the nation is fully dependent on the quality of education which is in turn dependent on competent teachers. With the growing time education in modern India gained a whole new facet and so did the role and performance of the teachers in the society. Many fundamental Laws and Acts have been enacted pertaining to the improved and ongoing performance of the teachers all over the nation. But as it is rightly said that the coin has two sides the journey of the teachers in the private schools have also seen their share of hardships in their career in terms of their expectations to have a more stable and revised facilities from the legislation and other governing bodies including respective school management where they are entitled to work. Shortage of teachers is also a significant contributing factor that widens equity gaps in education access and learning for various classes of the society. Assessing and monitoring the problem of teacher attrition is necessary to a sufficient supply of qualified competent and well-trained teachers as well as to their effective deployment support and management in the teaching profession. With the help of this study causes of high attrition rate among teachers in private schools are highlighted which is helpful for the schools/management to identify where they went wrong. The study is also helpful to suggest some remedies to handle the problem effectively.
